Woodworking Band Saw

Woodworking band saw is a kind of sawing machine which makes continuous rotary motion in the same direction around two saw wheels with endless circular saw blade. Band saw is the most widely used main sawing machine in China due to its high efficiency and small cutting path. It can be used to cut logs, cut square boards, and big boards into thin or small squares. It can also be used to cut rough edge boards into full edge boards or square timber.

Several typical sawing methods for workpieces

1. The narrower the saw blade is, the smaller the curve radius is. According to the experience: 12 mm wide saw blade can cut curves with a radius of curvature of about 70 mm; 25 mm wide saw blade can cut curves with a radius of curvature of about 250 mm; 35 mm wide saw blade can cut curves with a radius of curvature of about 450 mm; 50 mm wide saw blade can cut curves with a radius of curvature of about 800 mm. When a wide saw blade is used to cut a curve with small curvature radius, several radial saws can be cut first, and then the curve can be cut.

2. When sawing the corner of a right angle with the straight internal angle sawing method, a round hole can be drilled at the corner first, and then the sawing can be carried out according to the arrow direction in the figure. When the turning angle is large, it can be cut directly.

3. The bending material sawing method generally adopts the method of line sawing. The curve template can also be used for sawing, that is, the curve template can be put on the saw ratio, and the processed parts can be sent over with the curve template, then the corresponding curves can be sawed out. The curvature of the material should match the width of the saw blade properly.

4. When the inclined plane is sawed by the inclined plane saw method, the working table of the machine tool can be tilted to the required angle. It is also possible to make a wedge-shaped board with corresponding slope and fix it on the table without adjusting the table surface of the machine tool. When the workpiece is sent along the wedge-shaped board, the required slope is sawed out.

5. When the conical saw method is used to cut a large and a small work piece, the method of relying on the template is often used, that is, a piece of wood slightly longer than the processed piece is first sawed to the required slope, and four sides are planed as the template. The template should not be too thick, the small end should be kept at about 10 mm, and then the big end of the template should be nailed to a wooden block as the stop. When sawing, the processed part should be supported on the template, and the face template should be closely attached to the saw. The template should be made of two pieces before and after replacement so as to improve work efficiency.
